Tips for schooling at home during COVID-19

Getting the little ones motivated to study at home is not an easy task. Therefore, we leave you some ideas that can help you so that you do not lose the important habit of studying. How to do it? Follow these tips and let the studying begin:

Keep a routine:

Since changes in routine can be stressful, it will be helpful to talk with your kids about why they are staying home and what your daily structure will be during this time. Let them help create a daily schedule that can hang on the refrigerator or somewhere they can see it each day. Be sure to include breaks from telework or schoolwork to relax and connect with each other.

Make them a schedule:

Just like when they go to the garden or school, it is essential that they know that, at a certain time of day, it is time to study! This practice helps children not lose the habit of studying and that it is important to do it when it is due.

Establish a place to study:

Children when they go to the garden, know that they are going to learn, the same thing happens when they go to school. But at home? When they are at home, the little ones know that they can play and do other totally different things to study. Therefore, dedicate a space free of distractions, which will be where they can study, which is separate from other home activities.

Set up their desk with their essential materials before starting:

Ideally, when your little ones go to their place of study, they have as much as possible at hand everything they may need for each week. Thus, you can reduce the moments of distraction and the children can concentrate on their activity of the day.

Reward them for their efforts:

Prepare entertaining and small prizes that motivate your child to during the day, make being home fun, and rewarding when they complete a task.

Keep in touch with your school:

Many schools and teachers have established online learning facilities or have distributed work for those without internet access. Make sure to read everything they send home and try to incorporate these resources into your planning where possible.

Remember, just do what you can, without creating added stress for you or your kids. Spend time together, get outside when you can (even if it’s the backyard), and stay safe. You know your kids best and can give them what they need. You are not a teacher, but with the help of free resources, and regular contact with teachers and friends, you can keep your kids engaged and active during this challenging time.
