FAQs

Are rear facing car seats considered safe?

Rear facing car seats are safe when they are correctly installed. They offer protection and are more secure against injuries due to the way they are designed to support your child’s head and neck.

How do I install my car seat in the rear facing position?

Firstly think about which side to install the seat on. The passenger side is recommended as the safer option, but this can depend on whether or not you have more than one child. If you are using the ISOFIX system, simply:

  • check if your vehicle has ISOFIX points. The easiest way to do this is to check your car’s manual
  • recline the seat using the base handle
  • fasten and tighten the ISOFIX connectors and look for the green indicator on both sides of the base
  • attach the capsule, rear-facing, and push down on the base until you hear a click
  • attach it to the top tether of your vehicle's anchor using the metal hook and adjust as required

Lastly, remember it is always advisable to read your vehicle’s instruction manual before installation to check your car’s restraint systems and confirm safe seating positions.

At what age should my child be in a rear facing car seat until?

A rear facing car seat can be used until your child reaches their car seat's maximum weight or height. However, the usual age limit can range from birth to age 4.

What is the height limit for a rear facing car seat?

The most evident indicator to go by on any rear facing car seat before deciding to convert it to front facing are the shoulder height markers, regardless of their height.

Can a rear facing car seat be installed in the front seat of a car?

Never place a rear facing car seat in the front seat of a car. It is extremely dangerous and illegal.

When in doubt about whether or not you change from rear to front facing seats, always ask a professional or consult New Zealand laws and regulations regarding car seats.

Rear Facing Car Seats For Your Baby

From the moment you leave the hospital, you need to ensure that you are prepared to keep your child safe with the right choice of baby capsules.

All our seats are designed and adhere to New Zealand laws and regulations. Safety is our number one priority and cannot be compromised when it comes to your child. Our baby capsule adds to your child's comfort and reduces your infant's head from flopping forwards with its reclining feature.

This is vital as your infant's neck is weak at this early stage, and they cannot support their head themselves. With this in mind, we also have other products that increase head protection and stability.
