At what age can I change from rear facing to forward facing position for my child's car seat?

Any newborn child is initially in a baby capsule that is rear facing to ensure their safety. Once your baby outgrows its rear facing child restraint, they can be transferred into a forward facing car seat. Always check the shoulder height markers prior to making the decision to convert your child’s restraint to forward facing.

At what age should my child look at moving to a booster seat?

If your child is far too tall to fit into their forward facing car seat then it is highly likely they are ready to move into a booster seat. A booster seat should be used in conjunction with a lap-sash seat belt. Usually at age 7, providing your child is tall enough, you can use a booster seat.

Is a booster seat easy to install?

Booster seats are very simple and easy to install but always read and closely follow the instruction manual that comes with the seat. Installation usually includes the following steps:

• locate the anchor points, if you car does not have this they you will need to fit them
• attach the tether straps and tighten to secure and make sure the base of the booster seat can’t be lifted up off the car seat
• feed the lap-sash seat belt through
• adjust your child’s headrest accordingly

You are now ready to place your child in the booster seat and clip the seat belt into the correct buckle.
